F.A.Q
Q1: What is the difference between a 2 point and 3 point seat belt?
A: It comes down to how many attachment points they have, and how much protection they offer:
2-point seat belts (lap belts only)
2 mounting points — just goes across your lap
Only protects the lower body
Common in buses, forklifts, golf carts, and older vehicles
3-point seat belts (shoulder + lap)
3 mounting points — shoulder anchor plus two lap points
Protects both upper body and lower body
Standard in all modern cars, much better crash protection
We make both types. Which one you need depends on what vehicle or equipment it's for, and what safety level you need.
Q2: What does E-Mark certification mean for seat belts?
A: E-Mark (officially ECE R16) is the European safety standard for car seat belts. If a seat belt is E-Mark certified, it means it passed a bunch of strict tests:
Pull strength tests
Crash tests with dummies
Retraction and locking tests
20,000+ cycle durability tests
Hot and cold temperature tests
Practically speaking: E-Mark certified belts are legal to use on roads in all EU countries and most other places that follow European standards.
Q3: What is ELR and ALR in seat belts?
A: They're two different locking modes in the retractor — the part that pulls the belt in and out.
ELR (Emergency Locking Retractor)
This is the normal mode you use when driving
The belt moves freely with you
Only locks if you stop suddenly or get in a crash
ALR (Automatic Locking Retractor)
Locks automatically once you pull the belt all the way out
Won't loosen until you unbuckle and let it retract fully
Q4: Are seat belts universal? Will they fit my vehicle?
- Where the mounting points are, and how far apart they are
- The size and shape of the retractor
- How long the webbing needs to be
- What kind of buckle you need
That said, our universal 3-point retractor belts work for most standard cars, buses, vans, and retrofit projects. If you're not sure, send us your vehicle info or measurements and we'll help you pick the right one.
- Length — 2m to 4m, or longer if you need
